Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after a tractor trailer rig ran off Interstate 90 near the New York state line around 9:00 p.m. Sunday and plowed down a ravine.

According to reports from the scene, the truck driver lost control heading east, crossed the westbound lanes near the Gay Road overpass and then ran off the north side of the interstate.

Multiple emergency crews responded to the accident scene.  It was raining steadily at the time. There were no reports of injuries, although some witnesses told emergency dispatchers that they saw people running from the vehicle.

State police had to shut down traffic on the interstate at 10:15 p.m. so that a tow truck could get into pull the big rig out.
