Coroner to Use Dental Records to Confirm Identity of Man's Body Recovered from Lake Erie
The U.S. Coast Guard has recovered a body from Lake Erie near the foot of East Avenue in the City of Erie.
The body was discovered just after 12:30 p.m. after local emergency crews were called in to investigate a possible body in the water.
Approximately an hour and a half later, the body was brought to shore and transported by Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook.
Cook tells Erie News Now the body is that of a male, but is badly decomposed, so he will use dental records to try to determine the man's identity.
Authorities are not able to confirm whether or not the body was that of Rabin Subedi, the 21-year-old who went missing near the marina weeks ago.
When Subedi's family learned a body had been discovered, they went to the scene, but again, the coroner cannot positively confirm the identity without further investigation.
