Buckingham palace opens its garden to visitors today, allowing members of the public to explore the ground's of Britain's Queen Elizabeth's official residence for the first time.

People will be able to walk through the 39-acre garden with a self-guided tour until September.

Wardens will be on hand to provide talks, while arts and craft activities will be available for children on selected days.

Guests will also have the rare opportunity to picnic on one of the monarch's garden lawns as part of their visit.
