A man faces felony charges for kidnapping a 14-year-old girl he met on social media and taking her to West Virginia, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The victim was reported missing Aug. 9 from her Amity Township residence in Erie County.

The investigation determined Thomas Grossman III, 47, started a relationship with the girl on social media, and he started to exchange sexually explicit photos with the victim, troopers said.

Investigators said Grossman and the victim communicated by phone multiple times over a 24-hour period on Aug. 9.

Grossman then reportedly traveled to Amity Township, picked up the victim in a vehicle near her home and on Aug. 10 started to travel south from the Erie area with the victim, according to State Police.

Police later located Grossman's vehicle in the parking lot of a Walgreen's store in Summersville, West Virginia, troopers said.

Grossman was arrested, and the victim was safely returned to her family.

He is behind bars in the Central Regional Jail in Flatwoods, West Virginia, on $500,000 bond. Extradition is pending.

Grossman faces charges of kidnapping, interference with the custody of children, corruption of minors and concealment of the whereabouts of a child.

The FBI is assisting with the investigation.
