He was assigned to many dangerous missions during his tour of duty in Vietnam.

Frank Strobel passed away over two years ago and the loss is being felt every day by family members.

Over ten years ago, he was encouraged by his wife Lucy and his mother to write a book about his time in the U.S. Army.

That's exactly what he did, sharing his fast-moving experiences and the impact beyond the fighting involved.

His book, "The Devil's Disciple" is a story about people, family and life on the battlefield.

Lucy Strobel told Erie News Now, "He was passionate, patriotic, loving and caring man. He flew a lot of night missions that he volunteered for. His experiences in Vietnam changed him a lot."

"He was my hero", Tom Strobel, the younger brother of Frank, told Erie News Now. "Sometimes he didn't feel like a hero, and he did some things against his spiritual willingness."

The Devil's Disciple is available on Amazon and Thirftbooks.com and is available for less than six dollars.
