Our weekly series, Remembering Our Veterans continues with the story of a band of brothers from Erie.

They were inspired to serve by their dad, who ran the family farm and wanted to serve but was denied the opportunity.

Chris and Kevin Wagner, two of the 12 children in the family, had their mother die at a young age. Inspired by their father, who, despite wanting to serve, was told by the government that his work on the farm was essential, they enlisted in the U.S. Army, along with three other brothers.

Kevin Wagner served in the Army. Chris served in the Army National Guard.

Chris has worked at Maria's Pizza on West Grandview for thirty years. His older brother Curt is the owner. Chris's son Patrick joined the Army National Guard 32 years after his father did.

Chris and Kevin have ten other siblings - nine boys and three girls. To all of the Wagner's who have served, welcome home.
