Our weekly series, Remembering Our Veterans, continues with the story of the Farver family. Last week, we heard from Jean Farver. Tonight, we share the story of her daughter, Alison.

A graduate of Corry High School, Alison proudly served and will always remember the sacrifices made, past and present.

Alison grew up in a military family and had multiple ROTC scholarship offers.

"I got both a Navy and Air Force ROTC scholarship," said Alison. "Penn State was a no-brainer. My grandfather was a grad, so I went to the ROTC down there and the Air Force just seemed like the better fit."

Alison did six years of active duty in the Air Force and four in the Reserves, she resides in Florida now with her family and is a Department of Defense contractor with her husband.

"My initial assignment was at the mission support system at the Air Force base, and I learned a lot about the flight line communications equipment, and radar, and ILS. As an officer I was mostly taking care of my people," said Alison. "They were taking care of the equipment and I was taking care of them."

Both of her parents served and her sister is still in the Air Force.

"It just feels natural," said Alison. "This is how my family has been, and there's nothing bad about the military. Being in the military is an honor, a privilege, and I can't imagine not having it. I'm trying so hard to get my daughters and friends to consider it."

Her military bond is unbreakable.

"Camaraderie, it means about being apart of something bigger than myself," said Alison. "It means family and not just my family."

Alison's sister, Colleen Farver Heim, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 2006 and is still on active duty.

To the Farver family, thank you for your service.
