Gliding Stars of Erie on Wednesday hosted its banquet at the Ambassador following Saturday night's Gliding Through the Decades event.

It served as a chance for both athletes and coaches to unwind after another Gliding Stars event and also receive awards for their hard work.

Amy Sass from HAPPI 927 was there after serving as emcee, and Erie News Now's Philip Ward was invited as a guest of honor.

Gliding Stars director and coach Linda Althof said she is proud of everyone who came together to make this year's event another success.

"This is our 24th year, and it just seems to get better and better and better," said Althof. "I don't know how that happens, but it's hard work [and] dedication. We could not do it without the volunteers and the support of the community. We're so grateful."

Planning for next year's 25th annual event is already underway.
