Waldameer Park is opening up the large parking lot off Peninsula Dr. to visitors who may need a space to view April 8's Total Solar Eclipse.

President Steve Gorman said the parking lot will be open for free.

The amusement and water park itself will not be open - just the parking lot, which will open at 7 a.m. on the day of the eclipse.

Ten porta potties will also be available to the public across from Waldameer's parking lot. They will be located near the bait shop on Peninsula Dr., which is now owned by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

There is a crosswalk from Waldameer lot to where the portable restrooms will be.

Presque Isle State Park manager Matt Greene said the Tom Ridge Environmental Center will be open that day, along with the gift shop and exhibits inside.
