Erie News Now continues to honor veterans and their families with the story of Scott Mitchell. Mitchell served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years.

He says if he had to do it all over again, there would be no hesitation. Mitchell comes from a family of military service, his father had a career in the military, and his two sons have also had tours of duty.

"I thoroughly enjoyed doing what I was doing," said Mitchell. "Had my kids not been at the age they were at, I probably would've have stayed in and did 30 instead of 20."

Mitchell had six deployments during his two-decade tour of duty.

"My first deployment was fantastic, we did what they call port hopping. We went from one port to the next, to the next, to the next," said Mitchell. "We transported troops from point A to point B, drop them and their equipment off and they'd we go out and do our own thing and they'd do their thing."

When his military service ended, he turned to the family business and now runs Mitchell Memorials in Cambridge Springs.

"We can help them and point them in the right direction for that kind of stuff," said Mitchell. "But we can sell them one that they can put something on that has to do with the military. We've got a lot of connections when it comes to that, we do a lot with the VA down in Meadville."

To Scott and the entire Mitchell family, thank you for your service.
