At Cranberry High School they put on their second annual volleyball fundraiser. The Student Council President Maria Galletta said they wanted to create events that make an impact.

"That’s the whole purpose of doing it. Student council -- they usually see us as the one’s that plan homecoming and school events that are fun. We wanted to show people we're more than that. So we were like, ‘let's do a non-profit fundraiser’. All proceeds go to them. We receive nothing from this but joy,” Galletta said.

This year they're helping Western PA Pullin’ 4 A Purpose. A non-profit that puts on a tractor pull to help local kids that have rare illnesses.

“We try to look for children in the area that are local with rare disease and life threatening diseases. We have done this for 14 children, including this year. It’s a huge event. . . We couldn't do it without all of these fundraisers. This is new for us for the school. We're trying to get our name out there more. This is our sixth year. It just takes a whole community to do it, ” Founder and President of Pullin’ 4 a Purpose Sean Matteson said.

There was also a raffle at the volleyball fundraiser that came together through school clubs, teams and the community.

"We ask for all of our clubs, teams, and any community member that wants to donate. They were so generous with that. We couldn’t have asked for more. . .The community here is so generous. We are so fortunate. This is my 30th year at Cranberry High School and I am just blown away by the generosity of the volunteers and people who come out," 12th grade English teacher and Student Council Adviser Heather Motter said.
