The Erie County Department of Health will be distributing free Baby Health Education bags on Friday, April 26 in honor of National Infant Immunization Week.

The Baby Health Education Bags* will be distributed at the Erie Family Center's Diaper Depot event. The bags will contain items for babies and educational materials about infant immunizations.

The Diaper Depot will be held from 2-4 p.m. at the Mercy Anchor Community Center.

The Health Department said health educators will be there to answer questions about immunizations.

According to the Department of Health, parents and guardians of babies two years and younger are strongly encouraged to work with their children's doctor to stay on schedule with routine immunizations.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends giving babies the recommended vaccinations by age two. According to the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics, giving babies the recommended vaccines is the best way to protect them from serious childhood disease.
