Sunset Drive In in Waterford is officially open for the season and the line to get in was packed.

The hatches were up and facing the big screen ahead of the two featured shows.

Another opening day for Dennis Koper, who has owned the drive in since 1986, and he said they worked right up until the last minute to get things ready to go.

"We finished up last night about 10:30 p.m., finished cutting the grass this afternoon and we are finally ready to open and hope everything runs smooth," Koper said.

He said the area is great for people to spread out and enjoy themselves, including the kids.

"The kids can run around, they are not confined to a seat, you can bring your chairs, boomboxes and blast them as loud as you want because there are no neighbors to really bother," Koper said.

"I am feeling really happy to see Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, I have really been wanting to watch them," Kolin Niver said.

Nick Tai came to Erie all the way from Asia and explained how excited he was to experience a classic American tradition.

"I am from Taiwan, it is my first time coming to a drive in and I hear that it will be late but fun," Tai said.

Admission for kids six and younger is free, $5 dollars for those between the ages of seven and 11 and $10 dollars for those 12 and older.
