The Erie Zoo has plans to celebrate the planet on Saturday, May 18. The zoo will be honoring Earth Day, World Oceans Day, and Endangered Species Day during the Party of the Planet on Saturday.

Local organizations such as Wildlife in Need, Purple Martin Conservation, Presque Isle Audubon, newBin, Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park, and NWPA Beekeeper Association, will have booths set up throughout the zoo.

The zoo will also be hosting tables where you can learn about composting and endangered species.

Additionally, this year the zoo will be hosting a Conservation Donation Challenge. The goal of the challenge is to raise funds for the zoo's conservation partners.

The challenge is between the zoo's Wild Dogs, African Penguins, and Tortoises. Voting will open on the zoo's website on May 12 and will end during the Party for the Planet celebration.

Funds raised through the challenge will go to the Painted Dogs Research Trust, SANCCOB Save Seabirds, and Myanmar Turtle & Tortoise Conservation.

The event is included with the price of admission.
