In 1963, Strong Vincent High School graduate Chris Maras, inspired by President John F. Kennedy, joined the Navy.

He spent two years in active duty and three years in the reserves. The Maras family has a history of serving. 

Chris' father is a World War ll veteran and his brother, served in Vietnam.

His interesting story starts across the pond before he arrived in the U.S.

Maras had a number of experiences he will never forget.
