Vietnam Veteran Continues to Honor Legacy of Fellow Veterans: Remembering Our Veterans
Erie News Now continues to share the stories of local military veterans in our ongoing series, Remembering Our Veterans. This week, we're sharing the story of David Van Houten.
Two years after graduating from Eisenhower High School in 1966, he was in Vietnam.
Remembering those who serve and sacrifice is part of David's daily ritual.
David served in the United States Marine Corp and was in Vietnam from 1968-1969. He signed up for duty instead of being drafted.
David has done over 500 funerals as part of the American Legion Honor Guard. Van Houten's American Legion Honor Guard will work the service for World War II veteran Glenn Hodak in May.
Hodak's remains were recently returned to his family in Warren County.
David Van Houten, thank you for your service.
