A 44-year-old man has died after becoming pinned under a forklift at an Erie company.

It happened early Thursday afternoon at First Line Coatings on West 12th St.

The company provides a protective and decorative finish to metals.

The victim was operating a forklift when it slipped off a loading dock. He tried to jump off and was killed instantly, Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook said.

He has been identified as Matt Rogers of Lake City. A GoFundMe has been started to help the family. The death has been ruled accidental.
