A Cathedral Prep student is suspended after administrators discovered a weapon in their backpack, shortly after the school entered a “secure” status following the stabbing in Perry Square Wednesday afternoon.

That's according to a message the school's president Kevin Smith sent home to families.

The weapon was found after an administrator searched the student’s locker. The student was then isolated and supervised before law enforcement was called to the campus. Officers removed the student and confiscated the weapon.

The student is suspended indefinitely pending further administrative review.
