A bus driver for the Valley Grove School District is facing charges for allegedly turning the bus heater on full blast to punish students for their behavior, Sugarcreek Borough Police Dept. said.

On Wednesday, police received several complaints from parents who said their students were crying and "extremely sweaty" when they got off the bus.

Police said the students' bus driver, 75-year-old Harvey Sliker of Utica, Pa., told them to close their windows.

He then said to them, "I am going to cook you all."

He turned the bus heater on full blast while the outside temperature was 74 degrees, police said.

Police think temperatures were between 90 and 100 degrees inside the bus.

That same afternoon, Sliker also threatened to hit students with a paddle the next day, police said.

The students were between 5 and 12 years old.

He has been charged with recklessly endangering another person and simple assault.

He is not allowed on school property or at school functions.
