The bars and restaurants in downtown Erie are always busy on Saint Patrick's Day, but this year, outside was the place to be.

"We couldn't have asked for a better day," said Erie native Victoria Wykoff.  "The weather is perfect. It's not too hot, not too cold. I'm really happy the city of Erie is letting us be out in their streets to celebrate today."

In Saint Patrick's Days past, cold weather and snow has kept people indoors, but this year, after the "Winter that Wasn't," the streets were overflowing with patrons.

People began lining the streets of Erie as early as 6:00 this morning, and bar managers expect the crowd to last well into the early morning hours.

"A lot of people come out, having a good time, drinking beer," said Molly Brannigan's Bar Manager Greg Sikora.  "We'll continue until two in the morning."

While for many people, shamrocks and green beer are all part of the St Patrick's Day fun, for most, it's about more than just that.

"There's nothing better than getting together with your friends, dressing up, you go to bar early, meet random people," said bar-goer Anthony Cicero.  "It's a good time."

And this year in Erie, as far as the weather anyway, the "luck of the Irish" seemed to be on our side.
