The 2013 Great Lakes Seaway Trail Travel Magazine is out and publishers say packed with ideas for exploring the 518-mile National Scenic Byway that hugs the freshwater shoreline of New York and Pennsylvania.

The leisure driving and boating route spans five distinct areas along the coastline: the Erie Bayfront and Presque Isle in Pennsylvania, the Western NY Lake Erie metropolitan hub of Buffalo-Niagara Falls, the expansive Lake Ontario shoreline and its centerpiece at Rochester, the recreation-rich Eastern Lake Ontario waterfront, and the international 1000 Islands-St. Lawrence Seaway.
Feature articles in the free, 64-page, glossy magazine highlight 30 historic lighthouses; War of 1812 battle sites; cultural heritage attractions and quilt shows, classes, and exhibits; events and festivals, biking, kayaking and 75 geocaching opportunities Trailwide.
The 2013 Great Lakes Seaway Trail Travel Magazine includes Erie County, PA, highlights: leisure driving to two historic lighthouses in Erie and throughout the vibrant grape-growing region that stretches all along the Northeastern Pennsylvania Lake Erie shoreline. Fifteen trails near the City of Erie are participating with the First Lady's Let's Move Initiative, encouraging healthy outdoor activity.

Presque Isle is our local attraction for boaters of all interests, birdwatchers, beach lovers, walkers, and kitefliers. On the calendar are two Perry 200 events in Erie: the July 4 Historic Erie County Fireworks and the September 5-8 Tall Ships Festival II.
The travel magazine is found at approximately 50 Great Lakes Seaway Trail kiosk units on the byway; at information centers, accommodations and attractions throughout the byway region; and at visitor centers and interstate rest areas in Upstate New York and Pennsylvania.
