You can check out designs for the green schools of the future on display this week at Penn State Behrend. They are models developed by Erie elementary students as part of The E.R.I.E. - Every Room Is Environmental Design Collaborative.
Thirteen teams from twelve Erie schools are participating in the Green Schools Academy, sponsored by the Green Building Alliance.
The goal is to empower schools to make sustainability a priority in their operations, curriculums and even communities.
The creative ideas of the student teams are impressive. Through design meetings with internationally known experts in Pittsburgh, they've learned about school gardens, green cleaning, indoor air quality and environmental literacy.
