After sitting vacant for years, the former Telatron building is getting a new owner and new life.

L
ake Erie Christian Fellowship officially purchased the building in federal court for $670,000.  The church will now move from the West 38th Street plaza into two of the old Telatron buildings just blocks away.

"We've been renting for seven years now,” said Lake Erie Christian Fellowship Pastor Bryan Kowalczyk.  “So getting into a building that's twice the size of what we were in and being able to buy this, was a steal for us."

According to Kowalczyk, one building will house the church and a day care center.  The church also plans to offer veteran services and free music lessons to children in the building off of West 39th Street.

"I think it's really important as a church that we're not just looking at what we can do for ourselves, but to make a difference around everybody else,” said Kowalczyk.  “So that's why we're doing these things."

The church is expected to open on January 1 of 2015.
