On Wednesday, lifelong Erie resident Gary Grack, announced he is running for Erie City Council.

If elected, the democrat says his top priorities would  include public safety, and attracting more entrepreneurs to the city. Grack has served on the  EMTA board for eight years, and says now is the right time to run.

"I'm at that point in my life where it's time," said Grack. "I've always wanted to do this. I have the passion and I have the people behind me. I'm very passionate about the city of Erie."

Three city council seats will be up for grabs in the May 19 primary election.
