ALBION, Pa. - An early morning house fire near Albion leaves a family without a place to live. But, the family dog may have saved their lives.

Crews were called to 26458 Rt. 18, Spring Twp, Crawford County for reports of a structure fire shortly after 3a.m. Tuesday. The fire could reportedly be seen for nearly three-quarters of a mile.

Six companies from Erie and Crawford County were on the scene for nearly two hours. The front portion of the home suffered substantial damage, but there is no word on a cause of point of origin, said Lloyd Allen, Springboro Vol. Fire Dept. asst. chief.

Allen said the family dog woke up an adult male when the dog reportedly saw the smoke and flames. All occupants escaped uninjured.

Fire investigators are expected to be back on the scene today to determine a cause.
