Construction is expected to start in the next two weeks, on the latest expansion project at Waldameer Amusement Park.

The park is adding on to its water park, with the focus on young children and families.

The plan calls for a large spray area, with water coming in all directions. And a new pool with 8 slides.

The attractions will be located side-by-side on vacant land close to the wave pool.

The $1.5 million project follows plenty of study by park owners.

Steve Gorman of Waldameer said, "From research into other amusement and water parks around the country, we determined this would be a great, popular attraction, a big hit."

Owners say the current children's area of the water park is often overcrowded.

Once construction starts it will continue until the weather gets too cold and snowy. The work will resume in the spring.

The park hopes the project will be done by next May.
