Last week Erie News Now reported a road rage incident involving three Erie men. Raymond McAllister, 45, pulled a gun on 19-year-olds Jonathan Brown and Anthony Grucza, while driving down I-79. One of the victims spoke to Erie News Now about the terrifying encounter.

It was just an ordinary day, Jonathan Brown was riding in the passenger side of Anthony Grucza’s vehicle for a day of shopping at Grove City.  That’s when their day of fun turned life threatening.

Police say Anthony and Jonathan were traveling Southbound on I-79 when Raymond McAllister started to tailgate them.  Jonathan says, “We let him go by us, and he was doing about 120 [mph]. And he was just riding other people’s butts, you know he was just, road rage. Bad road rage.”

The men thought they got away from McAllister, until they pulled beside him when traffic slowed down in Mercer County.  Jonathan says, “We were in the passing lane, he was in the slow lane.  And I just simply shrugged my shoulders and asked him, what his problem was? You know, that’s when he proceeded to pull a gun out.”

Jonathan said he felt his life was threatened.

Mercer County State Police responded to the 911 call placed by Anthony, and stopped McAllister for traffic violations.  Police discovered a loaded pistol in the front seat of his car. Jonathan says, “The cop told me he pleaded guilty, saying he did do it.  I told the cop what color the gun was.  It was, I couldn’t make this up if I wanted to, you know?”

McAllister is being charged with terroristic threats and reckless endangerment.  For Jonathan, the incident has made him think twice when it comes to aggressive driving.  He says, “When it comes to road rage, I’m just going to let them go.  I’m not going to try to ask them what their problem is.  “I’m just going to let it go, cause now-a-days, you just don’t know.”

Jonathan says Raymond McAllister is a doctor for a UPMC practice.  Erie News Now reached out to UPMC to confirm that, but they declined to comment.  McAllister posted at $25,000 bond and faced a preliminary hearing January 27th.
