As Montrice Bolden entered a courtroom for his preliminary hearing, about a dozen protestors gathered outside of the Erie County Courthouse to offer support.

"I want to show love and support for Montrice Bolden and his family, and other families that are suffering from injustice and police violence.” Said Alvin Tucker.

The protestors are upset over Bolden’s June 27 arrest, which was captured on a surveillance camera outside of TJ’s Traffic Jam off of East 12th Street.

You don't see what led to the arrest, but you do see four officers physically arresting Bolden, who suffered from several injuries.

"I saw the video,” said Jordan Newell.  “I feel like they did use a brute amount of force and just any person, no matter what they do, I don't feel like that is a thing that you should do.  You should not use that much force."

Organizers of the protest say it's aimed at shining a light on the use of excessive force.  Those involved are hoping for a similar outcome.

“I want the pressure to be put on police so they begin to police themselves” said Tucker.  “We know on our end we will do our justice and duty, and do justice by our community as well."

Bolden is facing charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, disarming an officer, and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
