UPDATE: Fire Crews Respond To Calls To The Community Auto Recycling
ERIE, Pa. - Smoke could be seen from across town as a local auto wrecking and recycling company caught fire. And that's just what the Fairview Assistant Fire Chief saw while driving down the road around seven o'clock this evening.
Fairview Fire Chief explained how this fire was unique in how it got called in by the Assistant Chief.
"Shortly after seven o'clock we were alerted of a fully-involved structure fire here, smoke, flames showing. One of our Assistant Chiefs got on location and confirmed that it was a working fire," said Brian Mesaros, Chief of Fairview Fire Department.
The fire turned out to be located at a garage on the property of the Community Auto Recycling Facility on Manchester Road. The garage was used to house car parts, and burnt to the ground.
As the flames grew, multiple crews from all over the county were called in to extinguish this fire.
Fairview, Girard, Lakeshore, West Ridge, West Lake, McKaine, Franklin Township and West County Paramedics all responded to the scene.
Fortunately there were no injuries, and investigators do not believe anyone was near the property at the time the fire started.
It is still unclear what started the fire or how much damage was caused to the structure.
