State Senator Scott Wagner brought his campaign for governor to Erie today, meeting with business leaders.

He also spoke with Erie News Now.

Wagner said he does not think the negative republican primary campaign will hurt him, if he wins the nomination and runs against Governor Tom Wolf in the fall.

He thinks voters will focus on the issues.

And he believes the key issue will be state government spending.

He wants to start zero based budgeting to make departments justify all spending.

Wagner said, "Harrisburg does not have an unlimited supply of money. Harrisburg thinks money grows on trees. It doesn't. I can tell you the people of Erie are sick of sending money to Harrisburg and watch it being wasted."

Wagner is in a three way race with Paul Mango and Laura Ellsworth for the republican nomination.

Governor Wolf is unopposed for the democratic nomination.
