The Independence Hill area of Erie hosted its first Flagship Flea of the season.

The unique artisan shopping event is part of how Independence Hill is working hard to bring an eclectic, vibrant district to Erie.

Peach Street was blocked off from West 24th to 26th for food trucks and unique artisans and crafters.

Area breweries were also on hand, including Lavery Brewing Company and Erie Ale Works.

Sadly, Saturday's rainy weather was not the best, but there will be more.

"This is the season's first Flagship Flea," said Carrie Sachse, French Street Farms. "Turnout has been about what you would expect it to be on a rainy day like today, but I think it was a really good trial run for myself and other vendors, especially for me because my business is new, just getting set-up and kind of going through that process, without the pressure of too many customers to worry about."

The Independence Hill Collaborative of Erie said it will hope for better weather for the other Flagship Fleas on the second Saturday of each month until September.
