After serving at Allegheny for the past six years, Director of Athletic and Recreation Portia Hoeg is stepping down. Hoeg will end her tenure with Allegheny as of July 6.

Hoeg will take the same role with Rhodes College. She had been serving as Allegheny's Director of athletics since January 2012. She shared mixed emotions with the change.

"It is bittersweet to say goodbye to Allegheny, Hoeg, said. " In my time here, I am pleased to have provided athletics with a foundation to long-term success. During the past six-plus years, we were able to impact the department through organizational improvements, team and individual championships, community engagement, academic achievement, facility upgrades, and a transformational student-athlete experience."

During Hoeg's time, Allegheny won eight North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. Under her direction, the Gators also gathered eight NCAC Coach of the Year honors.

Allegheny facilities were also upgraded, with the biggest improvement under Hoeg's tenure being the installation of the turf field surface at the Frank B. Fuhrer Field in 2015.

Allegheny will begin its search for their next Athletic Director.
