That massive report on clergy sex abuse in Pennsylvania is a step closer to being released.

A grand jury spent two years investigating Erie and five other catholic dioceses across the state.

Today the judge who supervised the grand jury ruled that the report should be released to the public, and that the release would not violate grand jury secrecy rules.

That decision supports the position of State Attorney General Josh Shapiro who has been pushing for the release.

The release has been blocked by at least two dozen people arguing that their due process rights have been violated and the report contains inaccuracies and would cause damage to their reputation.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court issued a stay to consider those arguments.

The report remains under seal until the high court decides the report should be made public.
