Nine young tech companies chosen from more than 100 applicants have started their 10-week training as part of the Secure Erie Accelerator in the Erie Innovation District.

They are newly established businesses on the cutting edge of things such as cyber hardware or wearable security devices who are looking to take their companies to the next level.

Through the accelerator, in partnership with Mercyhurst University, each of the companies receives mentoring, $50,000 in seed money and training from Silicon Valley's Singularity University, all to grow their businesses.

The hope is that they will see the value of recruiting staff, manufacturing products, and staying here in Erie to grow their businesses.
