Therapy Dogs United Celebrates 10th Anniversary
It's time to celebrate the power of pooches. Therapy Dogs United is celebrating 10 years helping those in the tri-state area.
Therapy Dogs United first came to our region 10 years ago this month.
The tempered dogs offer comfort and companionship to veterans, and children in the Pennsylvania court system.
Studies have found that man's best friend can offer comfort and support to seniors and children who are going through change or loss in their lives.
Therapy dogs are also used to aid in mental health, physical healing, and emotional support.
One volunteer told Erie News Now about the "power of the paw."
Within these past 10 years, the non-profit has grown to having over 400 volunteers, and visit over 100 facilities regularly.
Monday, a party with cake and canines was held at their office on W 8th street, in celebration of their 10th anniversary.
Celebrations will continue throughout the week.
You, and your leashed, friendly dog are welcome to join the group of therapy dogs at their "Yappy Hour" Friday, Aug 17th.
It's at BrewErie from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
