Health Code Violations Force Erie Italian Restaurant to Temporarily Close
An Italian restaurant on Erie's west side has been shut down because of numerous health code violations.
La Bella at 18th and Liberty was forced to close its doors following an inspection by the Erie County Department of Health.
There were several health code violations, like mouse droppings, flies and drain flies throughout the facility. The basement has sewage and standing water.
The restaurant was ordered closed about a week ago Aug. 9.
In order to reopen, owners have to get a letter from an electrician and City of Erie Code Enforcement stating that repairs to the building have been made.
According to code enforcement manager Andy Zimmerman, the building remains closed while they await a plan from an electrical contractor.
