New Mural Tells Story of Findley Lake's History
Findley Lake, N.Y. unveiled a big, new mural Saturday.
It's 70 feet and stretches across the Findley Lake Fire Hall.
Artist Ehren Knapp's work was done in multiple four by eight panels and then installed on the fire hall.
The mural aims to tell the story of Findley Lake past and present from the old saw mill that started the town to the skiers, snowmobilers and music events that are part of the current community.
Community leaders came up with the idea about four months ago, and it came together with plenty of private support.
"23 sponsors - not from the town or the county, no outside funding, all-community - sponsored came together very fast," said Larry Gross, Our Own Candle Company. "You can see the picture's beautiful."
Organizers said it is just the beginning of putting murals on some Findley Lake buildings to beautify the community. The next one is planned for the side of the market.
