For the first time on Wednesday, the Edinboro University community had a chance to meet face to face with the new chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.

Chancellor Dan Greenstein spoke at a forum in the Pogue Student Center, and fielded questions from faculty, students, staff and the community.

For the last six years, Greenstein has managed the Bill and Melinda Gate Foundation's work on post secondary education.  He has been a national leader in a push to close the gaps in academic and economic attainment especially for low-income and minority students.

Greenstein said he is moving PASSHE toward having the 14 universities in the system to have greater autonomy and in return accountability in how they tackle enrollment, student and employer needs and other issues in their communities.

His message of optimism and confidence in faculty and staff played well with the university audience.
