The Erie Junior Philharmonic performed at Strong Vincent Middle School Sunday afternoon. The group has 60-70 students this year involved in the orchestra and ensembles. These students come from 30 different schools, including some from an hour away or home schooling and it gives them the opportunity to perform with a talented musical group.

Students audition for their spots in the Junior Philharmonic and are given the opportunity to play some of the same challenging music as the Erie Philharmonic. A few of the students talked with Erie News Now after Sunday's concert and told us they encourage everyone to learn how to play an instrument.

The Erie Philharmonic mentioned they have programs to teach people how to play violin and their website shows what other musical education programs they offer in the Erie area. Other places around Erie offer lessons in various instruments as well.
