A special holiday luncheon today for more than 200 local veterans at the Bayfront Convention Center.

Students from Fairview Middle School raised more than $2500 to support the event.

They partnered with Dickey's BBQ to provide hot meals to all the vets and their families.

And about 100 volunteers even served the veterans.

There was also music and Christmas gift bags.

The school held a similar event last year. But this year's luncheon was much bigger.

Fairview student Thomas Brown said, "It is always nice to get out here and do things for them. This is just a little thing for what they deserve to have for their service they provided to everyone in our nation."

Fairview student Kayla Kutkowski said, "I think a lot of us love to give back for everything they have done for us.

Veterans also received hand written thank you notes for their service from Fairview students.
