Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is imposing restrictions on certain trucks and other vehicles and temporarily lowering the speed limit on two Erie-area interstates due to the anticipated snow and winds.

The restrictions start 10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8 and will stay in effect throughout Wednesday, Jan. 9. They are expected to be lifted at midnight.

Double trailers, empty trailers, non-commercial vehicles pulling trailers, recreational vehicles and motorcycles will be banned from traveling on Interstates 90 and 86 in the Erie region.

All other vehicles will see a speed restriction of 45 mph on the same interstates.
