The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) has entered into a five-year partnership to serve as the title sponsor of the Tour's new event in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., LECOM, the PGA Tour and Global Golf Management announced Wednesday.

It comes less than two weeks after the PGA confirmed LECOM decided not to renew its agreement to be the lead sponsor for the Tour Health Challenge at Peek'n Peak Resort after 2019.

The new tournament called the LECOM Suncoast Classic is set for the week of Feb. 11-17, 2019 at Lakewood National Golf Club with 144 players in the field.

The golf event at Lakewood National was first announced in June 2018. It is one of four new events on the Tour's 2019 schedule.

LECOM already sponsors LECOM Park, which is located in the Bradenton/Sarasota region. It is used as the spring training ballpark of the Pittsburgh Pirates and for the Bradenton Marauders, the Pirates’ Class A-Advanced affiliate playing in the Florida State League.
