According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics there are about 1600 federal employees in our area.

Locally federal employees like TSA, air traffic controllers, Border Patrol, And the Coast Guard are either furloughed or working with no pay.
However, there are companies and organizations offering help. Major cell carrier AT&T said they will waive late fees, provide extensions, and help revise payment plans for furloughed employees. Many credit unions like Navy Federal and Congressional Federal are offering interest free loans.


The United Way of Erie County is also reminding people of their 211 Hotline. Through that service the United Way connects those in need with resources, such as food, housing, and bill paying assistance. The United Way is preparing for the possibility of more calls during this shutdown period.
