It was a rough ride for a couple in the city early Friday morning.

Around 1 a.m. they say they noticed their car starting to smoke while driving along the 600 block of Liberty St.

Shortly after the smoke appeared, they spotted flames coming from the car's engine compartment. They jumped out of the car and it burst into flames.

The car is totaled, but the couple is OK.
