The most expensive gas in Western Pennsylvania this week can be found in the City of Warren.  That's according to a list compiled by the American Automobile Association. (AAA)

AAA revealed the price of gas in 22 cities in Western Pennsylvania.  According to the list, the average price of a gallon of unleaded, self-serve gas is $2.62 in the Warren area.

The least expensive in New Castle.  The price there is $2.26. The average price in Butler is $2.27.

During a trip to Warren today, Erie News Now found that most places were selling unleaded for $2.59 a gallon, but that price is still the highest on AAA's list.

People in Warren are baffled by the high price of gas in their city, especially because Warren is home to something that probably all the other cities on the list do not have….a refinery.

Erie News Now asked a few people visiting the Warren Library today about how they feel about the price of gasoline and how they are coping with it.

JOHN O’SHANY-WARREN-"There's no reason for it because we have a refinery right here. A gas station right outside the refinery is the most expensive, or as high as any in town.  That doesn't make any sense to me."

TOM CLARK- WARREN-"I've heard before that it's because you get fresher gas here in Warren. I think that's maybe not the reason, but it is pretty fresh anyways."

CHIP LUCIA-WARREN-"It's big business.  You know, a little town where they have us by the throat.  What can you do?"

ATRAYU MYERS-YOUNGSVILLE-"Normally, if we make a big trip, even when we're low on gas, we try to make it to the next stop.  You learn where the cheapest gas is.  Waterford, things like that."

RUTH FISCUS-WARREN-"I'm very upset about it.  As you go further away the gas prices are a lot lower.  I don't know why it is around here."

Erie News Now tried to find out why gas prices are higher in Warren than other cities in Western Pennsylvania. We called United Refining and Country Fair.  Our calls were not returned.
