A six month free parking experiment in North East Borough is now at the half way mark.

Since November, plastic bags have covered the 200 parking meters downtown.

Borough Council took the action after business owners said many customers were tired of getting tickets.

Many business owners and drivers like the move.

Others are still taking a wait and see approach.

The Bean Coffee House owner Tamara Walters said, "For the most part the community members I think are really happy they can find a spot. They can enjoy shops and the small businesses around and it is kind of a win-win."

The owner of Yori's Wine Cellars and Michael's Pizza, Michael Yori said, " Right now I am on the fence whether I agree with it or disagree with it. It is a mixed bag for me. I guess I am at this point believing we will have to wait to see how it plays out over the next three months probably."

In an E mail today, the borough manager said so far, the parking experiment has been very positive.

But it will be up to borough council to decide how to proceed at the end of the six month experiment.
