(ERIE, N.Y. - WICU/WSEE/CW) – Some Erie college students helped launch a tasty new kick-starter campaign Tuesday afternoon.

The campaign is for “Polar Popcorn”, which is being described as a new “freeze-and eat treat” created by Inventor of “Jelly Belly” David Klein.

Klein, who lives in Tampa, Florida, skyped into the unveiling at Ember + Forge coffee shop in the City of Erie.

Since last summer, a group of students from Mercyhurst University, Penn State Behrend and Edinboro University coordinated the campaign through the Erie Idea Fund’s “quick-starter" program.

The campaign offers you the chance to invest in polar popcorn, with the opportunity to get a little something back.

Campaign Manager and student at Mercyhurst University Kaitlyn Snyder told us the campaign process takes a lot of work but is worth it.

"I always feel better once the campaign finally fulfills itself.” Snyder said “But it's rewarding to see these people get their names out there."
