Man Charged for Killing Passenger in 2018 Crash in Washington Township
Pennsylvania State Police have filed charges against a Cambridge Springs man for a high-speed crash that claimed the life of a woman in May 2018.
Gerald A. Rodarmel III, 24, faces 15 charges including homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, involuntary manslaughter and exceeding the maximum speed limit by 77 miles per hour.
The crash happened as Rodarmel was driving a silver Honda Accord westbound on Kinter Hill Rd. on May 5, 2018 around 1:28 a.m.
The vehicle was traveling 113-122 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone when it went airborne while crossing Edinboro Plank Rd., investigators said. The bottom of the vehicle made contact with the pavement as the vehicle landed west of the Edinboro Plank Rd. and continued west on Kinter Hill Rd. It then crossed over the double yellow lines, left the right side of the road, went airborne, struck an embankment and trees, overturned and came to a final rest on its roof, State Police said..
The front-seat passenger - identified as Anna Kelsey, 25 - suffered seriously bodily injury and was pronounced dead at the scene. She suffered blunt force trauma to the head and trunk, according to the Erie County Coroner's Office.
Investigators said Rodarmel was driving under the influence and had a blood-alcohol content of .132.
Rodarmel has not been arraigned, as of Wednesday afternoon. He is current behind bars at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) in Chester for another case.
