Local Entrepreneurs Make Pitches For Prize Money to Grow Ideas
Several local entrepreneurs are getting help getting to the next level. What's called the Pre-seed competition has advanced to the final round.
It is open to anyone 18 and over in Erie County, and hoping to get a business off the ground.
The competition, hosted by the Idea Fund is in partnership with Ben Franklin Technology Partners.
They are helping to fund the growth of the winning applications. The three-phase project started with over 40 applicants and is now down to nine.
Executive Director of the Idea Fund, Rebecca Styn, says, "These are entrepreneurs that have zero to $20,000 in revenue, so they either have just an idea or they have just started their business and they kinda need a little more money to get off the ground."
There's a possibility of four top prizes of $5,000 each. If a pitch today has a wining technology or manufacturing component, the Ben Franklin Technology Partners has offered an additional $10-thousand dollars in prize money.
