The young boy who was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Erie's east side Wednesday night has been identified after an autopsy Thursday.

The death of the Nyon Warren, 6, has been ruled as accidental due to multiple blunt force trauma due to a pedestrian being hit by a motor vehicle, according to Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook.

It happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday along Buffalo Rd. between Downing Ave. and Cameron St., not far from the Metroplex nightclub.

Police said Warren was hit by a passing SUV.

Emergency crews rushed Warren to UPMC Hamot, where doctors were unable to revive him.

Erie Police are still actively looking for the driver and vehicle believed to have been involved.

Initial reports indicate a white-colored vehicle was involved, but police said the surveillance video they have recovered so far is not giving them a clear enough picture to put out an accurate description.

Police said they did not have any physical evidence from the hitting vehicle at this point.
